Despite the debate in the UK moving from the political (“should the UK leave the EU?”) to the technical (“how should the UK handle the consequences of having decided to leave?”), the attacks on the Bank of England from some politicians in the Leave camp have continued. This is both unjustified and unwise.
Much has been written about consequences of the UK’s decision to leave the EU and what it tells us about the state of the UK’s politics and British society more generally. Slightly less has been written – in Britain at least – about what it means for the politicians in what we will henceforth call the EU-27, and how their actions from here will shape the future of the European continent.
